Each of our showrooms follows the COVID-19 safety guidelines set forth by its county and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Since these protocols are updated often, our managers stay on top of the latest news to ensure their showrooms meet the current rules and restrictions. These include social distancing, mask mandates and vaccinations. As of November 2021, all our deliveries are being made outdoors, with no direct contact.

Many of our umbrellas require assembly, but it can be as simple as attaching the bottom piece of the pole. See individual product pages for details. In addition, some of our cantilever umbrellas require additional weight in the base for balance. Sand is a popular and affordable choice for this. Bags of sand are available at most hardware stores.
Yes, some of our fire tables require assembly. See individual product pages for more information. In addition, these tables are heavy, so you will need multiple people to help you to move them. If you choose our natural gas fire tables, you will need to hire a licensed professional to install or convert them.
Teak
Teak (tectona grandis) is a deciduous hardwood tree indigenous to the dry, hilly terrain of Indonesia and Southeast Asia. It has an exceptionally dense grain and is highly resistant to rot, warping, shrinkage and swelling. Teak’s high natural oil and silica contents act as natural preservatives, so the wood can be left outdoors for decades. It is one of the hardest, strongest and most durable of all timbers, and is virtually impervious to the effects of sun, rain, frost and snow. No other hardwood will perform to the same high standard as teak in outdoor conditions.
We use certified Grade-A solid teak grown on government-regulated plantations in Indonesia. The first plantations on the island of Java were planted by the Dutch (who were the colonial power at the time) in the mid 1800s, making them some of the oldest teak farms in the world. These plantations are now owned by the Indonesian government agency Perum Perhutani, which is responsible for the control of the teak. This agency only allows a limited number of trees to be felled each year and ensures the reforestation of these farms.
Our teak is Grade A – the highest grade available. It comes from the inner 35% of the tree where the wood is denser, straighter and much stronger than the rest of the wood. This results in furniture that lasts a lifetime. Grade B and Grade C teak is not premium and is prone to warping, splitting and cracking.
All our teak is kiln-dried to 15% or less moisture content before it’s made into furniture. This results in high-quality wood that won’t warp, bend or split – no matter how long you leave it outside.
Our furniture is crafted using timeless techniques including rugged mortise & tenon joinery, epoxy glues and brass fittings. After each piece is built, it’s sanded with extra-fine sandpaper to achieve a silky-smooth finish.
When your teak furniture is delivered, it will be in its natural state, which is a honey/brown color that looks polished. The polished appearance comes from the oil that occurs naturally in the wood. The oil on the surface will evaporate after a few days outdoors. It’s the oil that remains below the surface that gives the teak its durability. Left to age naturally outside, teak furniture will develop a handsome silver grey patina. This process takes approx. 6–9 months, depending on the amount of ultraviolet light and rain in your area. If not treated, teak will eventually change to a dark grey/green color.
Teak is a natural material. As a result, fine cracks in the end grain of the furniture may appear and disappear with changes in atmospheric conditions. Such fine cracks are normal – especially in heavy components like sofa arms and legs – but they will not affect the life or durability of your furniture.
No. We do not recommend using covers for our teak furniture because they can create a moist environment that causes mold to grow. Teak is a tropical hardwood, which means it’s accustomed to precipitation and humidity. This makes it the perfect choice for outdoor furniture. Occasionally, hard rain can drive the fine grain out of the teak and make it rough to the touch. If this occurs, use fine-grit sandpaper to reinstate the smooth texture.
Furniture Care & Maintenance
If you chose to seal your furniture, we recommend applying sealer and using covers (except for teak furniture) when the off-season begins (usually early October). If you use furniture covers on flat pieces like tables, place a beach ball or something similar under the cover to create a “tent.” This prevents water from pooling on top of the cover and allows the furniture to breath.
If you use furniture covers, it is important to remove them when the weather starts to get warm again in the spring to avoid moisture issues.
Applying a sealer is not difficult, but it is time-consuming – especially the first time you do it. We recommend two coats for the first application. For best results, cover the entire surface area, including in between the slats. Once you do this, all that’s left is annual or semi-annual maintenance. This is a much quicker process because you only need to apply the sealer in the areas that are directly exposed to the sun, and you can apply the new sealer right on top of the old sealer.
